Collaboration in the field of “Digital Health”
Technical, syntactic and semantic standards are needed for the specific implementation and development of an “interoperable health data space”. Their use must be coordinated. This is the only way to ensure that the developed solutions are compatible with each other and enable a seamless data flow. The following organisations are therefore establishing a collaboration for the area of ‘Digital Health’.
Health Level 7 (HL7) is a is a not-for-profit-organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive framework and related standards for the exchange, integration, sharing and retrieval of electronic health information. HL7 Switzerland is the Swiss national organization of HL7 International.

GS1 is a network of neutral, not-for-profit organizations that develop, negotiate and maintain global standards for cross-company processes such as those found in healthcare. GS1 Switzerland is part of the global organization GS1 Global, which is present in over 116 countries.

IHE is an initiative to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. Systems developed in accordance with IHE communicate with one another better, are easier to implement, and enable care providers to use information more effectively. The “Forum Datenaustausch” association promotes the efficient and secure digital exchange of data between service providers and cost centers in the administrative healthcare sector.

As a broad-based association, eCH promotes, develops and maintains standards for digital administration and for an increasingly digital healthcare system. For over 20 years, the partners have been jointly developing standards and ensuring the necessary interoperability in a networked society. The members work on a voluntary basis and the results are published.
Where appropriate, existing standards from other sectors and from abroad are validated and, if necessary, specifically supplemented. In the healthcare sector, for example, the standards for the insurance card, the rescue services and administration are known.

The Swiss Association for Standardization (SNV) is Switzerland's national standards organization. It is a full member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). In accordance with the Ordinance on the Notification of International Treaties (946.511, Art. 7), the SNV coordinates and safeguards Switzerland's interests in the committees of international standards organizations that are responsible for setting standardization policy and standardization programs as far as the development of international technical standards is concerned, which are referred to or are intended to be referred to in technical regulations.
